What do people thank me for or what do I love helping people with ? Now there’s a question. Makes you think. Most of the time I get thanked for helping people with the little things that are important to them at the time. In the past couple of weeks I’ve received gratitude from family and friends for doing little things that seemed of no consequence to me but were a big deal to them. I would always round off anything I may have done by saying that it was “no problem” and every time it really was no problem. I was once told that you need to meet people where they are. This is most definitely the case when it comes to helping people.
I am anxious about giving or helping since I believe that the world gives back what you give. I believe that you need to be a force for good, for positive change in this world. I am anxious to make a positive contribution in my interactions with those around me.
I love helping people through sharing knowledge, experience or capabilities that I have. In my most recent job I ran a home building company. A home is one of the most signifcant aspects of a person’s experience of life on this planet. It affects their mood, how they feel about themselves, their quality of life and their health. I loved meeting people with their preliminary house designs to help them correct mistakes that they had made. I loved answering their questions about the myriad issues involved in house design and building. Most of all, I loved increasing people’s awareness to help them make decisions that were appropriate to them. To instill in them the empowerment that they own as a right. To use that empowerment to do the best for themselves.
People thank me for letters, notes, cards or emails that I have written to them. I love writing, I think that I’m good at it. I enjoying sharing this talent with others. I get as much back from writing as the person receiving whatever correspondence I have sent.
