Passive House – Building on Solid Foundations

This was the presentation that I gave in Darmstadt yesterday evening at the International Passive House Conference.  A really fantastic experience.  I enjoyed a good Q&A session afterwards.  The purpose of the presentation was to show that there are cost effective options to delivering on Passive House foundations in the UK and Ireland.  If anyone wishes to learn more please feel free to contact me.  I do have a script written for the presentation but I totally threw that away once I stood up !!

You can access the presentation here  PASSIVE HOUSE-BUILDING ON SOLID FOUNDATIONS

Many thanks to Fergal Sheahan for helping me with the graphics – super guy, super job.

You can see the poster in detail here  POSTER PRESENTATION.  I had the good fortune for it to be placed next to the main conference hall entrance.  As you can see I’m rather happy about that !

  1. Hi
Thanks for the article. In terms of keeping the thermal blocks dry what would be the best way to practically achieve this? I am wondered if using a heavy duty damp membrane such as isopal Monarflex under the floor insulation to wrap around and meet the stepped dpc would be a good option? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
